I met with Steve Parillo at Legions Hobbies for a 1695 pts FoW game with my Late War Commando (Beaches with C3rd) forces taking on a 21st Panzer Division tank army. Steve’s version of events can be found here on his blog Huzzah! We rolled up “Fighting Withdrawal” for the mission.
Here Steve does his “UberGerman” pose on his side of the battlefield. I chose a night attack as the terrain had lots of long sight lines which would favor the German tanks and 88. The night vision restrictions would crimp my artillery observers, so I took the ground observer for the naval artillery. I hoped to move close under cover of darkness to have a chance against all the armor. The yellow pipe cleaners mark our set-up areas. The terrain featured mainly fields which provided some cover and woods. A small town anchored Steve’s right and center.
The objectives are also seen in the picture. One is near the left-most pipe cleaner in the woods. One is to the rear of the church. The last is in the small woods near Steve.
My list was from Overlord:
