For the love of ….

I played in a 3-round FoW MidWar tournament at Legions last weekend and had a great time! The games were all fought to the end with fortunes up and down on each turn. The last game was very dramatic….

IMG_4559I had three elements on the objective. Bill Thompson (above) had to kill all three to win the game as he was the defender.

Two carriers were blown to smithereens from two 88s who appeared at long range in ambush (Six shots needing 5,6 to hit…got three hits and killed both.)

The remaining 6pdr gun hunkered down, trying to be as small as possible. Two heavy machine guns blazed away at them…and scored two hits. I saved with one (needing a 5 or 6). I weighed the odds and things looked good. He needed to roll a six. I had a 5/6 chance of a win. Man, I had it made…

until the six stared me in the face! Ackkk!!!

Good game, Bill…..NEVER GIVE UP!!

As a side note, I’ve known and gamed with Bill for about 30 years. He always gives me good games as an honorable opponent. I hope all your gaming buds will do the same!

Pictures from the event can be seen here.
